Indicator overview
- Methodology
Read methodology
World Bank WDI series in current prices and US dollars, with no adjustment for price changes over time.
- Limitations
- Values move with exchange rates and price levels, so they are not a measure of living standards or purchasing power (PPP).
How to read this indicator
This is an economy-wide average, not a person's salary or a household's disposable income. The same average can coexist with different income distributions.
A rise in current US dollars is not automatically real growth. Exchange rates and prices can affect a time series. Purchasing power and real growth require different measures.
