Indicator overview

Methodology
Read methodology

World Bank WDI series in current prices and US dollars, with no adjustment for price changes over time.

Limitations
Values move with exchange rates and price levels, so they are not a measure of living standards or purchasing power (PPP).

How to read this indicator

This is an economy-wide average, not a person's salary or a household's disposable income. The same average can coexist with different income distributions.

A rise in current US dollars is not automatically real growth. Exchange rates and prices can affect a time series. Purchasing power and real growth require different measures.
